Brillia (“Brillia”, “we”, “us”, “our”) operates the Brillia Community App and the website at brillia.au (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.
The Service is intended for parents, expectant parents, and primary caregivers aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and children do not create accounts or use the Service directly.
If you contact us about Brillia Village, we collect your name, email, organisation, role, approximate team size and message to respond and prepare for a conversation. Please do not include colleagues' private or health information.
Enquiries are processed and stored by our website host, Netlify, and sent to Brillia's enquiry inbox. Access is limited to the people managing enquiries. We do not add you to a marketing mailing list through this form. Contact hello@brillia.au to ask about access, correction or deletion of your enquiry.
Thais da Costa Boeira (ABN 95 528 389 080), trading as Brillia, is the operator of the Service and the entity responsible for the personal information described in this policy.
We only collect what a specific feature of the app actually needs. We do not collect your exact date of birth, your children's exact date of birth, your home address, or any government-issued ID.
We do not collect your precise device location. “Nearby” features are calculated only from the general suburb you select, using a static reference table — the app never requests access to your device's GPS.
If you choose to mark a family member as currently pregnant, this is recorded against that entry. Under Australian privacy law, health-related information — which pregnancy status falls under — is treated as “sensitive information,” requiring your consent to collect.
By choosing to add this information to your profile, you consent to us collecting and storing it for the purposes described in this policy. You can withdraw this consent at any time by removing the pregnancy entry from your profile, which deletes the associated data.
We do not sell your personal information. We share limited information with the service providers that help us run Brillia, each given only what they need to do their job:
Other parents can see a deliberately limited version of your information depending on context — for example, your first name and general suburb are visible to other parents browsing meetups, but your identity in a meetup's chat is only revealed to parents who have themselves RSVP'd to that same meetup, and your exact address is never shown to anyone before they RSVP into your meetup.
We do not share your information with the businesses listed in the app's Businesses section — those listings have no accounts and no access to any parent's data.
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or where necessary to protect the safety of you or others.
Some events shown in Meetups (“Public Events”) are sourced from external organisations (such as councils, libraries, or museums) and link out to that organisation's own website to book or find out more. Brillia is not responsible for what happens on that external site — please review its own privacy practices before providing any information there.
If you use the “create a memory story” option after a meetup concludes, you will be taken to a separate, third-party website (Stars is Stories) to do so. Brillia only records that you clicked through — nothing about the meetup, your children, or your account is sent to that service by Brillia. Any information you provide once there is governed by that service's own privacy policy, not this one.
Your information is stored with Supabase, our database provider, and is protected using access controls configured directly at the database level — not only in the app itself — so that, for example, a business listing has no way to query information about parents or meetups, and a parent can only see another parent's exact meetup details once they've RSVP'd.
Our infrastructure provider stores information on servers that may be located outside Australia (currently understood to be within the European Union). Where your information is stored overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it continues to be handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
No method of storing or transmitting information is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Subject to some exceptions, you can:

Brillia is intended for use by parents, expectant parents, and primary caregivers aged 18 and over. Children do not have their own accounts and do not use the Service directly. The limited information we hold about children (a nickname and an approximate age range) is provided by their parent, for the sole purpose described in section 3.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know before they take effect. This policy was last updated on 9 September 2026.
